Friends

Good friends are hard to come by. I mean the honest-to-goodness, take your secrets to their grave kind of friends. To be able to place your trust in another person is a wonderful, beautiful thing.

Pushing....

I hate pushing people to do things they don't want to do. But when I feel that it is necessary, I'm going to do it. Case in mind: my boyfriend and grad school. Yes, he wants to go to grad school and it is his every intention to attend in the fall. BUT to attend, you must be invited. To be invited, you must apply. To apply, you need letters of recommendation. To get the letters, you need to contact your professors and give them your info. But before all of that, you need to choose which schools you would like to apply to and learn all about their application process and requirements. Whoo. It's a lot, yes? Well, my boyfriend is at the letters of recommendation stage. He is doing good time-wise, but I still feel the need to push him. Hopefully in the end, it is for the best!

Cold Days

Fall has overtaken summer so quickly. I wasn't ready for it. No fall jackets, no slippers, and no plastic over the windows. It was so cold in my apartment yesterday that I made stew specifically to warm up the place. (And it tastes great too!) I did succeed in warming up the apartment, plus I made my boyfriend happy.

I've found an additional benefit of adopting this kitty: my own portable heating pad. She sits on my lap while I'm at the computer - a quiet, cute, cuddly, constant warm body. It is wonderful.

As for the plastic over the windows, that will have to wait for this weekend. I'm putting off all of my fall preparations for the weekend....when that darling boyfriend of mine can help. :)

Settled

Well, Ms. Kitty is all settled. She became accustomed to our apartment in less than an hour. She started purring immediately after we let her out of the cat carrier. I was worried that after being cooped up in a rescue shelter for two years, she wouldn't take to the vast openness of the apartment and the two excited strangers grinning madly at her. But she did! Whoo-hoo. :)

New Arrival

I'm so very excited for tonight! My boyfriend and I are rescuing a cat! She is lovely. A 6 year old maine coon cat. The poor dear....she's been in the shelter for two years. How awful. I hope that she will like her new home. I've spent the last two days getting ready for her. I bought the food and the litter, and thanks to a wonderful blog, I constructed a homemade (and cheap!) kitty litter box.
